MyPill offers a SMS text service to remind women to take their contraceptive pill at the same time every day.
Around 3.5 million women take the Pill in the UK and studies have shown that women often forget to take at least one Pill per cycle. As a contraceptive method, the Pill highly effective if taken at the same time every day.
Research commissioned by Evriwoman website surveyed 3,000 mums on the pill and 70% said they forget to take it at least once a month, with 10% forgetting four or more times.
How it works: Sign up by texting your requirements to a mobile number (detailed instructions are on the website) and you’ll receive a daily reminder to take your Pill. Texts can be tailored to the type of Pill you are taking – whether 21-day with a 7-day break, or the POP or combined Pill, which is taken continuously.
The service costs 25p per text received, which works out at around £7.50 per month. Not particularly cheap but worth it for peace of mind if you are busy or travelling and might forget to take it.
MyPill was launched by British businesswoman Nicola Jennings. See the MyPill website for contact details and further info on how the service works. You can opt out at any time.
